Chinese checkers (alternate spelling Chinese chequers) is a strategy board game which can be played by two, three, four, or six people, playing individually or with partners. The game is a modern and simplified variation of Halma.

The objective is to be first to race one’s pieces across the hexagram-shaped game board into “home” the corner of the star opposite one’s starting corner—using single-step moves or moves which jump over other pieces. Others keep playing to establish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and last place finishers. Like other skill-based games, Chinese checkers involves strategy. The rules are simple, however, so even young children can play.

FamilyDiamond-01dFamily Diamond is a very basic digital version of Chinese checkers. The goal (just like in the board game) is to move your marbles across the board to the opposite side and, if possible, use you opponents’ marbles to get further each turn. This game has no extras or special effects, it’s just good old fashioned board gaming.

You can play alone or against a friend and face computer opponents.

Tetris is a puzzle video game originally designed and programmed by Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union. It was released on June 6, 1984, while he was working for the Dorodnicyn Computing Centre of the Academy of Science of the USSR in Moscow, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix tetra- (all of the game’s pieces, known as Tetrominoes, contain four segments) and tennis, Pajitnov’s favorite sport.

A random sequence of tetrominoes-shapes composed of four square blocks each-fall down the playing field (a rectangular vertical shaft, called the “well” or “matrix”). The objective of the game is to manipulate these tetrominoes, by moving each one sideways and rotating it by 90 degree units, with the aim of creating a horizontal line of ten blocks without gaps. When such a line is created, it disappears, and any block above the deleted line will fall. When a certain number of lines are cleared, the game enters a new level. As the game progresses, each level causes the tetrominoes to fall faster, and the game ends when the stack of tetrominoes reaches the top of the playing field and no new tetrominoes are able to enter. Some games also end after a finite number of levels or lines.

All of the tetrominoes are capable of single and double clears. I, J, and L are able to clear triples. Only the I tetromino has the capacity to clear four lines simultaneously, and this is referred to as a “tetris”. (This may vary depending on the rotation and compensation rules of each specific Tetris implementation. For instance, in the Super Rotation System used in most recent implementations, certain situations allow T, S, and Z to ‘snap’ into tight spots and clear triples.) The Tetris [Superlite 1500 Series] is a new version of the classic Tetris game, the game features a 1 player mode and a 2 players vs mode. Continue reading ‘The Tetris, (SLPM-86581)’ »

S.Q. – Sound Qube is a puzzle game released in 1998 for the PlayStation & Saturn consoles. You are armed with a RED and BLUE sonar. Each stage has a number of stacked cubes, visually they all look alike, but using the sonar you can find out whether the cube is RED, BLUE, WHITE, Core, or Jammer. To clear the stage one has to find the ‘Core’ cube and eliminate it.

SQSoundCube-01bFire a RED sonar using the ‘circle’ button and if the sound penetrates the cube with a ‘swishing’ sound, then the cube CANNOT be RED. If a ‘do-in’ sound echoes back, then the cube MAYBE of the RED. I say maybe because this cube can also be the all important ‘Core’ cube. To find out blast it with the BLUE sonar and if it echoes back the ‘do-in’ sound, then you have found the ‘Core’ cube. Eliminate by pressing the ‘triangle’ key twice and then press the ‘circle’ key.

A WHITE cube lets pass both RED and BLUE sonar with a ‘swishing’ sound. Reply With Quote

Manufacturer’s description:

Lode Runner for the PlayStation is two games on one disc. First, there is Lode Runner: The Legend Returns, a graphically enhanced remake of the computer classic. Secondly, there is Lode Runner Extra, a sequel of sorts that continues where the former game left off.

In The Legend Returns, the once green and fertile Earth is now a cesspool of filth, made this way by centuries of pollution. What remains of humanity resides deep within caverns, searching for gold, a substance still considered valuable. With enough gold, a person can buy safe passage from the planet. Chief among these Lode Runners is Jake Peril, a man who spends most of his time climbing ladders and ropes, walking across platforms, falling off platforms, digging holes and, of course, scooping up piles of gold.

LodeRunner-TheLegendReturns-01bAs you guide Jake around the underworld, grabbing all the gold so you can progress to the next level, a subterranean cult of gold worshipers will follow you around and make your task difficult. You can dig holes to momentarily trap these Mad Monks, but you should be careful not to trap yourself or touch a monk. As you go from level to level, the gold will be harder and harder to gather as you are basically forced to figure out puzzles that will enable you to dig your way to, fall on, or otherwise come in contact with the gold.
